Bray One-Act Festival Award!

This year we entered two plays into the Bray One-Act Drama Festival; PVT Wars and Bar & Ger. We are delighted to announce that Bar & Ger won the Bray Credit Union Shield for runner-up play.

PVT Wars by James McClure, directed by Square One member Rosary Morley and supported by Stage Manager, Pat Dunne. The play is a comedy about three G.I.s who are recovering from injuries they received inthe Vietnam War. With a witty dialogue Gately (Keith Cooper), Silvio (David Butler) and Natwick (Denis Dwyer) entertained the Mermaid Theatre audience as their characters, teased, tormented, entertained, exasperated and offered each other solace as they come to terms with the reality pf civilian life.

Winners: Nigel McGuinness ('Bar'), Fiona Keane (Director), and Grainne Troy ('Ger').

Winners: Nigel McGuinness ('Bar'), Fiona Keane (Director), and Grainne Troy ('Ger').

Our second entry was Bar & Ger by Geraldine Aron. Directed by Fiona Keane with the assistance of Stage Manager Gerry Gill, Bar (Nigel McGuinness) & Ger (Grainne Troy) told the tender story of a brother and sister and their relationship from when Bar was born and Ger was ten years old.  As with all families they had their ups and downs, their arguments and disagreements, but they remained loyal to each other to the end.

We are delighted to say that "Bar & Ger" won the Bray Credit Union Shield for runner-up play, and boy did we celebrate!
